Things You Need to Know Before Using This PC Lab

Using The Computer

  1. A unique login name has been assigned to each user. Before using the computer, each user must login using the assigned user name and the default password. The user name will be your OSU email user name and the default password will be the last 4 digits of your SSN followed by your first initial and last initial (i.e. if you are John Doe, your email address: doe.1@osu.edu and your Buck-I-D # is 6009080123456789000, thus your assigned User name will be doe.1 and your default Password will be 6789000jd ).
  2. Do not install any additional software. If you need to install any additional software for teaching or class project purposes, and will use it for a certain amount of time, please contact Michael Zazon in Rm. 343.
  3. Do not make illegal copy of any software installed in the lab. Each software installed is subject to copyright laws of the United States of America.
  4. Save all your files on your own media or Z:\ drive. Any user files left on local hard disk will be deleted.
  5. We are not responsible for any loss of data that you stored on the computers. It is your responsibility to provide your own storage media and backup your work.
  6. Do not remove any manual book, hardware or software from the lab.
  7. There are softwares that were installed and are running only on certain computers, and priority is given to the user(s) of these programs. See the posted lists on the manual folder on the bookshelf inside the lab for software installed.
  8. Every game player must give up his/her computer if requested by other user.

Leaving the Lab

  1. Always remember to logoff from your computer. Each user is responsible for any action that occurs under his/her user name.
  2. Please do not leave any trash or any other material in the lab. Discard materials that you do not need and please recycle all the white paper.
  3. Please check your personal belonging before leaving the lab, We will try to keep all lost and found materials in Rm. 378 if someone turn it in to us. We are not responsible for any loss occurs in the lab.
  4. Do not forget to backup your Files in your own disks. Do not leave any important files in the computer, because it will be deleted at least once a day.
  5. Do not hold the computer if you are not using it for an extended period of time.
  6. If you have any questions, please ask someone in Rm. 378.
