Academic Advising

Please remember that e-mail is best for quick questions only (e.g. dropping a course, changing your specialization track, etc.).

Longer conversations such as reviewing a schedule projection require an appointment. You may need to schedule your appointment at least a week or two in advance, especially during scheduling season!

Drop-ins will be available during Autumn 2024 scheduling windows. Please let us know if you have difficulty scheduling an appointment when no drop-ins are scheduled.

Not an ISE student? That's ok! We'd still love to meet with you if you're interested in learning more about ISE. Please read the instructions below to make an appointment with either Leslie or Gionna.

Advising Appointment Instructions

Appointments

These are 30-minute meetings that are appropriate for anything requiring long-term planning (such as graduation plans, financial aid appeals, reinstatement petitions, ROTC forms, etc.) and concerns about academic progress. Please prepare in advance for your appointment as much as possible (run a degree audit, have your schedule projection draft, etc.) and be prepared to take notes.

You will need to choose from one of the following appointment reasons when making your appointment online. Note that each reason has an in-person or remote option, so choose what is best for you. (Appointments will be Zoom-only during academic breaks.)

  • Academic Status/Academic Success Support
  • Checking Progress
  • Explore/Declare a Major (Students not in pre-ISE or ISE should choose this option.)
  • Graduation (only available for Leslie's students)
  • Long-Term Course/Schedule/Degree Planning
  • Schedule for Next Term
  • Other
  • Petition
  • Scheduling for Next Term

Please e-mail your advisor if you experience difficulty when using OnCourse to schedule an appointment.

ISE Advisors

Gionna advises students until they've successfully enrolled in ISE 2400 (generally first and second year students).

Leslie advises students from ISE 2400 until graduation. She also advises most transfer students from the time they start at OSU.

If you are not sure who your assigned advisor is, please check your Student Center on Buckeye Link.
